2 7 EASTERN EXPRESS (T192) M L Yeung TT Lunged at the gates just before the kick, but stood flat footed, losing early ground. Pushed forward to sit just outside the leader by the 800m. Fading slightly, but looked to still be in control late before winner swooped.
3 3 FRIENDS OF KA YING (T370) K C Leung B Pushed forward initially before easing back at 1200m to settle 4th, on the rail. Held up early in the straight. Kicked strongly late and was running down 2nd in the closing stages.
4 13 MIGHTY MAVERICK (V150) K Teetan CP/XB Ok away and taken up early to settle just forward of midfield, on the fence. Hung in the straight, but still ran strongly, finishing off well and just missing a place late.
5 14 SIMPLY INVINCIBLE (V094) T H So B Only eased forward early to sit at the rear of the field, on the rail. Held up early in the straight, before cutting across heels near the 300m. Ran strongly from the 150m to get close in a tight finish.
6 5 KING GENKI (V181) D Whyte TT Taken forward and settled handily in 5th, 1 off the fence. Ran solidly in the straight, but missed a big kick to figure in the close finish.
7 8 CALIFORNIA DISEGNO (V170) M Chadwick TT Pushed forward from the wide draw to sit 2nd/3rd, 1 off the fence. Always prominent in the run home, but was battling late and swamped in the tight finish.
8 9 UP AND COMING (S266) K K Chiong B/TT Taken up early, before dropping back to sit midfield, 1 off the fence. 1 paced for the majority of the straight, before kicking in the last 100m to finish off OK late.
9 1 CONSORT (V172) Z Purton B/H2 Dropped back from the kick to sit at the rear of the field. Raced keen from the 1200m before running onto heels at 1000m and racing wide with limited cover. Plugged away in the straight without threatening.
10 4 GONNA RUN (T094) C Y Ho TT Bumped on jumping, and steadied back early to eventually sit last passing the 1200m. Only fully clear from the 250m, but only plugged away to the line.
11 12 WINNING LEADER (N268) C Schofield B Pushed forward from the wide draw to lead. Competitive at the 250m, before the tank ran dry and dropped out quickly. Vet reported blood in trachea.
12 10 WINNIE'S HONEY (V132) O Doleuze B-/H Dropped back early to sit worse than midfield, 3 wide with cover. Looked to push forward at 500, but awkwardly placed on heels until 300. Came close to heels again late, but not going well enough to make an impact.
13 6 SPEEDY LONGWAH (S242) N Callan B/TT Cruised forward early and managed to get trapped 3 wide with no cover around midfield. Only fair in the straight and was eased out late.
14 11 BALAY BALAY (V247) H W Lai B Bumped and unbalanced early, before steadying to find a position around midfield on the rail. Never responded to riding in the straight.
