2 3 BELUGA (D105) Z Purton -- Strode forward to challenge for lead but was caught 3 wide before easing behind leading trio. Continued 3 wide with cover in middle stages. Made good late ground to snare second in last 50m.
3 1 XPONENTIAL (D049) M Chadwick XB/B1 Improved after the start to race second outside the leader. Was over a length behind leader/winner entering the last section before battling away well to hold third on line. Well clear of forth.
4 10 SPONTANEOUS (D106) B Shinn -- Steadied after start & shifted back from wide gate to race worse than midfield. Raced a touch wide but with cover in middle stages. Moved wider on straightening before passing a few runners in late stages.
5 12 BRAVE BABY (C066) M F Poon B/TT Ridden forward after start before steadying to race in midfield, three wide with cover. Maintained margin in final section but never looked a threat.
6 8 SPICY GRILL (D159) M L Yeung -- Had no speed after the start & shifted across to rail before improving after first furlong to race in midfield. Moved away from rail at the 400m but gave a further length in last section.
7 2 CHARITY GRAND (B358) H W Lai B/TT Not fast to begin & raced third last away from rail. Drifted back to last on cornering, 6.5L from lead before moving wider & finishing off fairly to midfield in final section.
8 13 LEADING FORTUNE (C441) A Badel B Steadied after the start & drifted back from outside gate to settle at the tail. Was well back on the turn before staying on the rail in the straight & maintaining margin in dash home. Never likely from rear.
9 4 DOUBLE TAKE (D205) N Callan -- Crowded after start before improving slightly to race just worse than midfield between runners. Ridden along from the 500m before peaking on straightening & weakening a further few lengths in last section. Well held.
10 11 SUPER EIGHTEEN (A323) C Wong B Ridden forward after start before being left three wide without cover outside leader. Continued wide path on the speed in middle stages. Peaked on run entering the last section & weakened out in last 250m after tough trip.
11 7 SO AWESOME (D258) H T Mo -- Slow to begin before steadying on the first bend & racing rearward. Raced ungenerously in middle stages before straightening the widest runner. Maintained margin in last section but was always well back. Well held.
12 14 BABY STORM (C500) K C Leung H/TT Had no early speed & was ridden along early to hold worse than midfield position on rail. Moved away from the rail on straightening, held up & shifted out on multiple occasions in the straight before getting clear late. Never likely.
13 9 COOL ACE (D154) K Teetan CP Strode forward before being crossed & getting good position between runners just behind the leading trio. Came under pressure on straightening, began weakening out passing the 300m before dropping out sharply in last 75m.
14 6 LUCKY VICTOR (C514) K H Chan TT1 Had nice run on leaders back. Came under heavy riding passing the 500m mark before weakening out significantly to finish a long last.
