Harry Bentley
Age: 34
Background: Brought up in West Sussex, Great Britain, Harry Bentley began his career at the age of 16 as an apprentice to trainer Gary Moore, riding his first winner in January 2010. Since then, Bentley has ridden over 1,000 winners and gained international experience in France, Germany, Canada, the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, where he rose to prominence as the second retained rider to Sheikh Fahad Al Thani’s Qatar Racing operation. In Qatar, Bentley made an immediate impact with victories in the QAT G1 Qatar Derby and QAT G1 Qatar Gold Cup. That same season he rode a six-timer at Doha’s Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club and was crowned Qatar Champion Jockey – the first of six titles he would claim in the jurisdiction. He also twice won the QAT G1 H.H. The Amir Trophy aboard The Blue Eye, in 2016 and 2018. Bentley has two international Group 1 victories, both aboard sprinter Limato – in the July Cup at Newmarket and Prix de la Foret at Chantilly. He began his Hong Kong career in April 2021, completing a solid debut season with five wins from 134 rides, including a feature success in the Class 1 Sha Tin Mile Trophy. He returned on a full-season licence for the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, posting 25 wins in each campaign. He improved in 2023/24 with a personal-best 39 wins and secured his first Group race success in Hong Kong with Whizz Kid in the G3 Bauhinia Sprint Trophy. He added another G3 success the following season when Helene Feeling took the January Cup. Bentley notched his 100th Hong Kong victory in December 2024. He scored his first G2 success in Hong Kong with Tomodachi Kokoroe in the Premier Bowl in the 2025/26 season and later landed his first Hong Kong Classic Cup victory aboard Stormy Grove. He was sidelined from June 2026 due to injury and closed out the season with 34 wins.
