Age: 26
Background:
Ethan Brown – aged 26, Brown has quickly built a reputation over the past few Australian seasons as a high-class jockey and, after overcoming serious injuries sustained in a serious fall at Flemington in 2023, to be one the most sought-after riders in Australia. Brown commenced riding in races when he was only 16yo and showed great promise during a short stint in his hometown of Alice Springs where he was apprenticed to Greg O’Connor, riding his first winner on Lady Phromily in 2015. Faced with limited opportunities in the Northern Territory, Brown relocated to Melbourne to link up with renowned horseman Michael Kent. Since completing his apprenticeship and joining forces with champion trainer Ciaron Maher, Brown has flourished and now has 609 career wins (as of 29 January) and 10 Group 1 wins. Included in Brown’s major victories are Snapdancer in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes and the Group 1 Memsie Stakes, Jimmysstar in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes and the Group 1 C F Orr Stakes as well as Smokin’ Romans in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes. Brown has ridden five Group 2 winners, five Group 3 winners and 18 Listed level winners.
