Racing Incident Report

On the way to the Start, COSMO DRAGON was kicked by another runner. After arriving at the gates, COSMO DRAGON was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion the horse was not suitable to race. Accordingly COSMO DRAGON was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. The start was delayed as the bridle on MIR loosened after the horse was boxed. This was refitted whilst the horse was in its starting stall. PRIDE AND FORTUNE and ELITE WIN were slowly away. When the gates opened, HOLY QUEST bounded in the air. On jumping, MIR shifted in abruptly and bumped FAIR DINKUM. From an outside gate, MAGIC OF MONEY was obliged to race wide and was not able to obtain any cover, then rounding the Home Turn hung out. Near the 800 Metres, ELITE WIN was checked to avoid the heels of FAIR DINKUM. The occurrence was accidental. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, INCREDIBLE hung out. About the 300 Metres, FAIR DINKUM (D Whyte) shifted out to go forward, in doing so bumped CLASSA WIN which shifted in slightly. After this FAIR DINKUM continued to shift out and brushed CLASSA WIN. No direct action was taken, but D Whyte was told he must exercise care at all times when shifting ground. About 100 Metres out, MIR became momentarily unbalanced, shifted ground and brushed the running rail. MAGIC OF MONEY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
