Racing Incident Report

QUEEN'S SPIRIT was withdrawn on 10.1.03 on veterinary grounds due to weight loss and dehydration associated with inappetence and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter THE GRAND ROOF. Before QUEEN'S SPIRIT can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. After leaving the Parade Ring and before entering the track, WINNING LAURELS made heavy contact with a rail. After arriving at the barrier, WINNING LAURELS was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, trotted up and after the necessary consultations was passed suitable to race. As the gates opened, MANIFEST reared, bumped the inside of its stall, then began awkwardly. As a result of these incidents, MANIFEST lost significant ground at the start. BROWN BEAUTY, ELVIS and MONEY were slow to begin. Throughout the race, LATTE raced greenly, hung in and on a number of occasions shifted ground. WINNING LAURELS and MULTIDANDY were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted GOLDEN CHOICE was making an abnormal breathing noise. The horse has previously been reported as a "roarer".
