Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading, it was noted that two small pieces of lead weighing about one fifth of a pound had dropped from the boot of C Williams (STEP FORWARD). This was picked up by an attendant and handed to C Williams who replaced it before being boxed. C Williams was given an official direction that such a practice must not be repeated whilst he is riding in Hong Kong. When the gates opened, LITTLE ELEPHANT bounded in the air. Then about the 800 Metres, LITTLE ELEPHANT was checked when crowded between SEA CORAL and STEP FORWARD which shifted ground in an endeavour to take up a position behind BEAR SUPREMO. WIEN and HARRIS CHOICE were both slowly away. After the 200 Metres, SEA CORAL became unbalanced and shifted in abruptly away from STEP FORWARD. As a consequence of this, some inconvenience was caused to L'ENFANT. Over the concluding stages, STEP FORWARD raced ungenerously, got its head up and hung out. Because of this about 300 Metres out, C Williams steadied and changed his whip hand.
