Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the course, it was noted that WELL EXPRESS had sustained minor abrasions to its off side upper lip. WELL EXPRESS was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. BOLD'N POWER, which was not standing well and had its head turned to the near side, was slowly away, then just after the start was checked when crowded by SOLO which left the gates very awkwardly with its head up and shifted in abruptly. SONG FOR SZESZE was slowly away. From a gate towards the outside, ARABICA was caught wide and obliged to race without cover throughout. When SUPER FAST (H K Yim) crossed to the lead about the 800 Metres, it was in the opinion of the Stewards barely clear of WELL EXPRESS. H K Yim was told he should show a greater regard for his fellow riders than that he displayed tonight. Near the 500 Metres, SOLO got its head up, hung out and for some strides was awkward when close behind FAMOUS BRAND. SOLO then made the latter part of the Home Turn awkwardly and shifted ground. Near the 400 Metres, METRO FLYER was steadied and shifted in as SOLO which was following was shifting a lot of ground. About the 400 Metres, INSPIRED brushed the running rail. About the 300 Metres, J Egan (FAMOUS BRAND) dropped his whip. SOLO was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
