Racing Incident Report

SPARKLING KNIGHT, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 1 July 2023 after winning in Race 5 on that day as its weight in this race, after including a 7 lb penalty, exceeded the stipulated maximum weight.
ISLAND GOLDEN jumped awkwardly and made contact with the left side of its barrier. Then shortly after the start, ISLAND GOLDEN shifted out and bumped PO ON WAY.
GO GO GO was slow to begin.
TRADER shifted in at the start and bumped ALWAYS FLUKE.
MR FUN jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped PANDA LEGEND. MR FUN was then shifted across behind runners from the outside barrier in the early stages.
Near the 800 Metres, MARVEL DRAGON raced keenly and got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover behind SPEEDY FORTUNE.
After the race, L Hewitson (MARVEL DRAGON) reported that, in his opinion, his mount did not appreciate the "Good to Yielding” track conditions and also made an abnormal respiratory noise on pulling up. A veterinary inspection of MARVEL DRAGON immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, MARVEL DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Also after the race, MR FUN was noted to have bled from both nostrils.
A veterinary inspection of PANDA LEGEND immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
LADY’S CHOICE and ISLAND GOLDEN were sent for sampling.
