Racing Incident Report

BALL OF FIRE was slow to begin. In the early stages, despite being ridden along vigorously, TELECOM SUPERBOSS failed to muster speed. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, GOOD TRIO was momentarily steadied away from the heels of GOLD DIGGER. After the 1100 Metres, ONLY YOU, which had been left racing three wide and without cover, was ridden along to go forward and cross to race outside the leader. After the 1000 Metres, GOOD TRIO was steadied away from the heels of GOLD DIGGER which itself was steadied away from the heels of DRAGON STRIDE. Also after the 1000 Metres, GIDDY KIPPER was left racing without cover. In the middle stages, RAIN IN SPRING proved difficult to settle. Making the Home Turn, GOOD TRIO was awkwardly placed between GOLD DIGGER and TELECOM SUPERBOSS which at this time shifted out away from the heels of SHARE THE FUN which commenced to give ground. At the 250 Metres, ONLY YOU was momentarily steadied away from the heels of X-SPEED. Near the 200 Metres, Apprentice H W Lai (TELECOM SUPERBOSS) dropped his whip. SHARE THE FUN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, SHARE THE FUN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. The performance of SHARE THE RUN, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SHARE THE FUN will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. RAIN IN SPRING, WINNING SMILE and X-SPEED were sent for sampling.
