Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading before the race, ETERNAL FUN kicked out and made contact with a rail. After arriving at the Start, the horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and following the necessary consultations it was decided that ETERNAL FUN was suitable to race. DEREK'S CHOICE, which had its head turned slightly to the left side, missed the start slightly, was then further inconvenienced by KIMBERLEY MINES which shifted in after being bumped by ETERNAL FUN. GOOD LAD jumped awkwardly. In the Straight, MASTER YING hung in and proved difficult to ride out. E Saint-Martin (ETERNAL FUN) said in the Straight he was racing in an awkward position between GOOD FRIENDS and NEVER SAY NEVER, was not able to obtain clear running and as a consequence did not ride ETERNAL FUN out in the Straight as he normally would. He did say in retrospect it would have been better had he shifted in in the early part of the Straight and followed HANDBAG DRAGON through. He concluded by saying had ETERNAL FUN had clear running, he did not consider the horse would have been able to close the race off any stronger than it did. KIMBERLY MINES was sent for sampling and a clinical veterinary examination. THE DUKE and FLYING MACHINE were sent for sampling.
