Racing Incident Report

SPARKY and BRAVE KNIGHT were slow to begin. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, GAUCHO and AMO hung out. At the 200 Metres, GAUCHO was struck over the nose by the whip of C Williams (KEEN FLYER). O Doleuze (GIANFANTI) was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said GIANFANTI had been working well leading into today's race and he expected it to give a good showing. He said he had to make some use of GIANFANTI in the early stages to obtain a good position because of the fast pace, coming onto the Home Turn GIANFANTI commenced to travel wide, then on straightening when shifted into the clear failed to respond to his riding and gave ground. GIANFANTI and GOOD TRIO were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GIANFANTI and GOOD TRIO after the race did not show any significant findings. SHERIFF BAMBOO, HELENE ELEGANCE and AHEAD A HEAD were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported AHEAD A HEAD had finished distressed. Before being allowed to race again, AHEAD A HEAD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
