Racing Incident Report

The start was delayed as a result of OPTICAL FAMILY being fractious in the boxes. FRENCH FRY, which was not standing well, missed the start. TEMMOKU jumped awkwardly with its head up. In the early stages, HIGH SPIRITS hung in. Rounding the Home Turn, WIN FOR LILY raced tight between DON SEBASTIAN and BILLION DELIGHT. When questioned, E Saint-Martin (TOP LIGHT) said he had been instructed by the Trainer to ride it back and certainly in the second half of the field. He said TOP LIGHT left the gates cleanly, then almost immediately commenced to hang in. He went on to say the horse would not settle and to avoid causing trouble to runners on his inside, he felt he had little alternative but to let the horse run along into a forward position. The explanations submitted by E Saint-Martin were today accepted.
