9 12 STAR CONTACT (E472) Bumped shortly after the start. At the 300 Metres K Teetan dropped his whip. When questioned, K Teetan stated that from a wide barrier he was requested to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages as the horse had raced disappointingly at its last start when ridden in a forward position. Trainer D A Hayes confirmed the instructions and the reason as to why he issued those instructions. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 10 TURIN MASCOT (H165) Bumped shortly after the start. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
11 3 WOODFIRE BRO (G115) Near the 1400 Metres was steadied away from MR ASCENDENCY when positioned close to that runner. Approaching the 300 Metres raced in restricted room for a short distance between TURIN MASCOT and CHILL CHIBI which shifted out to improve. After the event, M L Yeung reported that his mount came under pressure at the 600 Metres and failed to respond to his riding thereafter. He added that WOODFIRE BRO made a respiratory noise after the winning post. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of WOODFIRE BRO, a last start winner, was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, WOODFIRE BRO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
