Racing Incident Report

MONZA KING jumped awkwardly, threw its head about, was then crowded for room between STERLING CHANCE and FLIGHT OF FANCY, both of which shifted ground. On leaving the gates, SPEEDY FORWARD threw its head about and just after the start made contact with AQUA PRINCE. Shortly after this incident, AQUA PRINCE lost its position when crowded between SPEEDY FORWARD and ASCOT HERO which was being ridden hard to maintain its ground on the outside of FLORAL REGENT. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Rounding the Home Turn, GIANT was awkwardly placed behind ASCOT HERO. On straightening, CAVALO, which had been racing awkwardly inside FLIGHT OF FANCY, was crowded for room between FLIGHT OF FANCY and GUESS WHAT which shifted out slightly away from SPEEDY FORWARD after initially being taken out by that horse. During the crowding, CAVALO struck the heels of GUESS WHAT and knuckled. The Stewards were not able to attribute responsibility for the incident to any rider or riders and in the circumstances no action was taken. Near the 400 Metres, BRAVO LONGTEMPS brushed the running rail. After the 400 Metres, SIMON'S DECISION, which was not travelling well, was steadied when tight between ASCOT HERO and SPEEDY FORWARD. MAJESTIC CONQUEROR, which was following, was steadied as a consequence. About the 200 Metres, MAJESTIC CONQUEROR was steadied and shifted in to avoid STERLING CHANCE. After the race, CAVALO was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He was unable to find any significant injuries.
