Racing Incident Report

FAIRPLAY was withdrawn on 8.5.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left fore fetlock joint) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SMARTY (Y T Cheng). Before being allowed to race again, FAIRPLAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. With the intention of being ridden quietly from a wide barrier, BAYVIEW LAD was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages. In the early and middle stages, WITHALLMYHEART proved difficult to settle when travelling outside A-TACK. At the 500 Metres, RISING WIN was carried wider by WITHALLMYHEART which at this time shifted to the outside of A-TACK. In the early part of the Straight, SHOW BRAVELY, which was hanging in, had some difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 200 Metres, COULDN'T CARE LESS and SMARTY were steadied when crowded for room inside A-TACK (Apprentice H W Lai) which when giving ground shifted in. BAYVIEW LAD, which was following, was checked and shifted out in consequence. As the Stewards were satisfied Apprentice Lai stopped riding and straightened his mount, no action was taken. RISING WIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of RISING WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. FANTASTIC WIN and LORD CAIRNS were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported LORD CAIRNS was displaying signs of the "thumps". Before being allowed to race again, LORD CAIRNS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
