Racing Incident Report

Pla. Horse No. Horse Incident
4 COPARTNER FLEET (K342) Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres was held up for clear running. H Bowman stated that the instructions were to ride the horse where comfortable. He said with COPARTNER FLEET dropping back in distance to 1000 Metres tonight, when a number of runners showed superior pace he allowed the horse to settle in a midfield position. Trainer K W Lui confirmed the instructions issued and stated that with the horse dropping back in distance tonight he asked Jockey Bowman not to make use of it in the early stages as it had raced in a disappointing manner at its previous race starts when being ridden forward. Sent for sampling post-race.
6 BEAUTY THUNDER (J299) Sent for sampling post-race.
5 BUNTA BABY (J465) Held up for clear running making the Home Turn. Approaching the 200 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when improving into a narrow run to the inside of SUPER SIXTY.
11 STAR PERFORMER (K207) Shortly after the start was crowded between BEAUTY THUNDER and SIR CHARGE which shifted in.
1 FUN ELITE (J042) Jumped awkwardly. In the middle stages raced keenly and for some distance after the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid BEAUTY THUNDER. Between the 300 Metres and 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running. K C Leung stated that, in his opinion, the horse would be better suited by being stepped back up in distance to 1200 Metres. He added after the race the horse was coughing. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FUN ELITE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
8 HAPPY UNITED (H208) Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
10 ZOUPER FELLOW (K284) Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of M F Poon, 7th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race.
3 SUPER SIXTY (J071) After being crossed by ZOUPER FELLOW near the 700 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied to avoid that runner. Sent for sampling post-race.
12 GOLDEN FRIENDSHIP (K106) Shifted in shortly after the start and was bumped. Near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid HAPPY UNITED when being shifted behind that runner in an attempt to obtain cover.
