Racing Incident Report

1 10 FORTUNATE SON (J446) Jumped awkwardly. Sent for sampling post-race.
2 9 WINDLORD (L184) Between the 300 Metres and the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 3 CHINA WIN (K395) Approaching the 150 Metres was hampered when bumped by FORTUNATE SON (C Y Ho) which shifted in before being corrected. C Y Ho was advised to exercise more care.
4 5 VIOLET STAR (L149) After the race was noted to have sustained a laceration to the left front cannon.
5 2 SOLID WIN (J225) Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between KEEFY and DO YOUR PART which was taken out by CHINA WIN.
6 4 DO YOUR PART (J444) For some distance after the start raced tight between SOLID WIN and CHINA WIN which shifted out slightly. Sent for sampling post-race.
7 1 DEFINITIVE (K037) Bumped shortly after the start. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
8 7 KEEFY (G306) Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by SOLID WIN.
9 12 GENERAL REDWOOD (L102) Shifted in at the start and was bumped. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
10 11 DREAMING TOGETHER (L215) Shifted in at the start and made contact with SAMARKAND. Shortly after the start was then steadied when crowded by DEFINITIVE which shifted in after being bumped by GENERAL REDWOOD. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
11 6 ANOTHER ZONDA (K176) Apprentice P N Wong stated that the instructions were to attempt to lead. She said when her mount failed to show sufficient pace in the early stages to do so she was obliged to take a position with cover. She added that in the Home Straight ANOTHER ZONDA failed to respond to her riding and raced in a disappointing manner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. The performance of ANOTHER ZONDA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ANOTHER ZONDA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
12 8 SAMARKAND (H070) Bumped at the start. Z Purton stated that his mount came under pressure near the 600 Metres before giving ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SAMARKAND, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SAMARKAND will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
