Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the barriers, MIDAS KING was kicked by another runner. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and acting on his advice was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. CALIFORNIA TYCOON left the gates very awkwardly and was further inconvenienced when bumped by MISSION POSSIBLE which shifted in abruptly. As a consequence of this, S King was unbalanced. SMILEY WIN was slowly away. On jumping, WINWIN COMBINATION threw its head up. Just after the start, GRAND FIGHTER and CULLINAN were steadied when momentarily tightened by GLORIOUS WINNER (Apprentice C H Tse) which shifted in when only just clear. Apprentice C H Tse was told to exercise more care. Near the 800 Metres, CALIFORNIA TYCOON, which was proving difficult to settle, threw its head about when awkward behind WINWIN COMBINATION. At about the 500 Metres, WINNING LUCK was steadied and lost its position when crowded between KEWINS and SMILEY WIN which momentarily shifted in. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of D Harrison (GRAND FIGHTER) in the run to the line did not affect the horse's finishing position, they did advise D Harrison that he must ride all mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race whenever possible.
