Racing Incident Report

SPRING LOVE missed the start. SMILEY WIN left the gates awkwardly and shifted in. NEW PLANET jumped awkwardly with its head up, shifted out and made contact with CLASSIC CHOICE which on jumping bounded in the air. For some distance after this, CLASSIC CHOICE was unbalanced, shifted ground and caused LIFO to be checked. In the early stages, DARWIN proved difficult to settle and on several occasions threw its head about. In the early and middle stages, MIDAS KING proved difficult to settle. About the 200 Metres, SMILEY WIN was hit on the head by the whip of T Culhane (MIDAS KING). After this SMILEY WIN was steadied and shifted out. Throughout the race, CLASSIC CHOICE hung out. ROUND THE WORLD and SMILEY WIN were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. On pulling up, it was noted that ROUND THE WORLD had made an abnormal noise with its breathing. The horse was scoped and whilst its larynx was fully opened, the Veterinary Surgeon reported he noted mucus in the windpipe of the horse.
