Racing Incident Report

HIGH POTENTIAL was slow to begin. On jumping MR HAPPY knuckled. Also on jumping, POWERFUL knuckled, became unbalanced, shifted in abruptly and bumped KING HORSE. From the outside barrier, NIGHT HUNTER II was allowed to get back and shift across behind runners to a position close to the rail. Shortly after the start, TIM'S TONIC was steadied when crowded for room by MR HAPPY which shifted out. In the early stages, PRINCESS BEAUTY proved difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. At the 1400 Metres, AMERICAN DEVIL was checked when crowded for room by JUMBO LUCK which was carried in by PRINCESS BEAUTY (Apprentice K T Yeung) which when proving difficult to settle shifted ground. Apprentice K T Yeung was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he was to ensure he was clear of other runners before shifting ground. In the Straight, while being ridden out, LUCKY BIRD (Y T Cheng) hung in and near the 200 Metres shifted ground and bumped KING HORSE which as a result became unbalanced. Y T Cheng was reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion. In the run to the line, LUCKY BIRD continued to hang in and proved difficult to ride. Over the concluding stages, GANBARIA STAR got its head on the side and hung in. Throughout the race, GLOBAL POWER was obliged to race wide and without cover. KING HORSE, THE RICH MAN and NIGHT HUNTER II were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted JUMBO LUCK was bleeding from both nostrils.
