Racing Incident Report

On jumping, FIGURES blundered. NOBLE CRUSADER was slow to begin. HIGH INTELLIGENT began awkwardly. At the 700 Metres, REGENCY HORSE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of BILLET EXPRESS. At the 600 Metres, PLANET RULER was carried wider by HELENE PILLAGING which shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of BILLET EXPRESS. In the Straight, ABSOLUTE CHAMPION hung out when placed under pressure and at the 200 Metres shifted out abruptly. Because of this, B Prebble, its rider, changed the whip into his left hand. Near the 100 Metres, ADAIKALI got its head on the side, shifted out and then became unbalanced in its action. After this, ADAIKALI gave ground in the run to the line. When questioned, Apprentice C K Tong (HELENE PILLAGING) said he had been instructed not to use the whip on his mount, however, if necessary he should only use the whip forward of the saddle. He said because of these instructions he rode HELENE PILLAGING out vigorously hands and heels in the Home Straight and near the 300 Metres he slapped it down the right shoulder with the whip. Following the race, D Dunn, the rider of HIGH INTELLIGENT, said at no stage of the race did his mount handle today's track conditions. HIGH INTELLIGENT and ADAIKALI were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HIGH INTELLIGENT and ADAIKALI after the race did not show any significant findings. REGENCY HORSE and HELENE PILLAGING were sent for sampling.
