Racing Incident Report

On jumping, PACIFIC ALLIANCE lost ground after bumping with BEST CHOICE which shifted in after being bumped by THAT'S IT. In the early stages, THAT'S IT proved very difficult to settle, pulled its way into a forward position and then in the Straight gave ground. The performances of BEST CHOICE and THAT'S IT, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BEST CHOICE and THAT'S IT will both have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Apprentice K L Chui (CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE) said he had been instructed to lead if possible. He said accordingly he went forward in the early stages and when other runners improved on his outside after the 1600 Metres, he allowed CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE to continue forward to ensure he held the lead. He said after the 1000 Metres he endeavoured to steady the tempo of the race, however, CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE was proving difficult for him to settle and went quicker than he would have liked. THAT'S IT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of THAT'S IT after the race did not show any significant findings. MAVERICK and GRABBIT were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported GRABBIT had lost its right front plate.
