Racing Incident Report

MIGHTY WINNER was withdrawn on 5.6.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SHOWTIME (M Chadwick). Before being allowed to race again, MIGHTY WINNER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PLANET was slow to begin. LUCKY BO BO began awkwardly. GLOBAL RULER and HOT PEPPER bumped at the start. Passing the 800 Metres, DANESOUTH, which was reluctant to hold its position, became badly unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room inside PLANET which itself shifted in and away from HOT PEPPER (Apprentice T H So) after being directed in marginally by that horse. As the Stewards were of the view that there were a number of contributing factors involved in this incident, no further action was taken, however, Apprentice So was advised to ensure that he leaves sufficient racing room for runners to his inside in future. Passing the 700 Metres, ENGINEERING WONDER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KING FAY FAY and as a result shifted to the outside of that horse. The performance of BAITIWU, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BAITIWU will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of BAITIWU after the race did not show any significant findings. HOT PEPPER, SHOWTIME and LUCKY BOY were sent for sampling.
