Trainer advised that the horse had pleased him leading into the race and could offer no excuse for its disappointing performance. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings. Performance was considered disappointing. Has since performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and passed an official vet exam - Race 298. |

He said as his mount does not possess fast early pace he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to comply with his instructions to cross runners to his inside. He said after entering the Back Straight it commenced to race keenly and he was unable to restrain his mount any further to set a more sustainable pace which resulted in it racing inside of standard time throughout the early and middle stages of the event. When questioned regarding placing his mount under pressure from the 350M rider stated that as it can be one-paced and requires some time to respond to his riding he felt it was the appropriate time to place the horse under pressure despite the fact that it had run inside of standard time throughout the early and middle stages - Race 350. |

When questioned regarding his riding from near the 300M rider stated that after being crossed by a runner in the early stages he elected to shift to that runner’s outside where he was positioned between that runner and the favourite. He said near the 300M he elected to shift in slightly to follow the favourite as he felt that runner would provide him with the opportunity to improve into the event. He said when the favourite shifted in slightly leaving the 300M and did not respond to its rider’s efforts to improve, he then was required to steady and shift back to the outside of the favourite to obtain clear running. After considering his explanation the Stewards found the tactics adopted by rider were reasonable in the circumstances - Race 315. |
