He said after taking a position behind a runner in the early stages his mount raced keenly and was steadied away from that runner for some distance thereafter when it refused to settle in the middle stages. He added making the Home Turn his mount ran wide before finishing the race off reasonably well. Trainer confirmed the instructions and stated he issued those instructions as he was concerned the horse would race too keenly if ridden forward in the early stages. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 474.
