Racing Incident Report

Before being presented in the Parade Ring, NO EXCUSES kicked out and made contact with a rail. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. THREE COINS jumped awkwardly, then just after the start bumped the hindquarters of NO EXCUSES. CHUK WAY jumped awkwardly with its head up and was then further inconvenienced when crowded for room between EASY MONEY and EVER GAIN, both of which shifted ground. For a short distance just after the 800 Metres, THREE COINS was awkward on the heels of WIN IT ALL. In the early part of the Straight, PERFECT CHAMPION was steadied when momentarily crowded by JOYFUL STAR which shifted in abruptly in an endeavour to find running. Also in the early part of the Straight, the saddle on LEOPARD shifted back. C Brown (JOYFUL STAR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding. The careless riding being that at about the 200 Metres he shifted his mount out from behind TRULY DELIGHTED to improve when not clear of LEOPARD. As a consequence of this, LEOPARD was unnecessarily crowded for room and became unbalanced. C Brown was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 23 October 2000 on which day he may resume race riding. The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after next Saturday's meeting at Sha Tin. Just after the 200 Metres, EASY MONEY, which was weakening rather quickly, became unbalanced and shifted ground. As a consequence inconvenience was caused to EVER GAIN and THE VITALITY STAR. After this incident, THE VITALITY STAR was not ridden right out to the line. Throughout the race, TRULY DELIGHTED hung in.
