Racing Incident Report

CENTURY STAR jumped awkwardly, was then checked when crowded between CASH TREASURE and THE YOUNG TREASURE which shifted out abruptly. Near the 1000 Metres, GOLDEN CHOICE got its head up when awkward on the heels of MY FRIENDS SAY. In the Straight, GOLDEN CHOICE hung in. Also in the Straight, CENTURY STAR had a tendency to lay in. About the 100 Metres, CHARMING STRIDE was checked when crowded between CENTURY STAR which shifted in and RED DEVIL which was shifting out to find running. In the circumstances, no action was taken. When questioned, E Saint-Martin (RED DEVIL) said he had only ridden the horse once at the track, that was last Thursday morning when its work had been quite acceptable. He said before the race today the owner was not present and the Trainer had instructed him from a good gate to try and find a good position, but be careful with the horse as it can over-race and pull. E Saint-Martin said RED DEVIL jumped nicely and surprised him the way it settled and due to the speed and the manner in which the horse had relaxed, he got further back than expected and running to the first turn found himself at the rear but close to the rail. He said he elected from there to remain on the rail and ride the horse for luck. He went on to say in the early part of the Straight he did consider shifting to the outside of SUPER FORCE, but when CHARMING STRIDE shifted out and took SUPER FORCE out, he elected to shift back and go on the inside. He said he had hoped to improve inside GOLDEN BELL, but again was disappointed when INTEGRITY shifted ground, had to steady and shift to the outside of THE YOUNG TREASURE to try and find running. He said he was able to find some running over about the last 100 Metres, but was still not able to get into the clear until almost right on the line. The explanations submitted by E Saint-Martin were today recorded and he was told it is in his interests to endeavour to ride all his mounts in such a manner which leaves no room for questioning at all.
