Racing Incident Report

NAMJONG SPIRIT jumped awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and bumped ENERGETIC PRINCE. Just after the start, MONEY WINS and SEVEN GLORY raced tight between DESERT STORM and CHEERS UP. Near the 800 Metres, SMART HORSE accidentally struck the heels of NAMJONG SPIRIT and knuckled. KRISTOFFERSON, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Also near the 800 Metres, FISH KING became unbalanced and awkward just inside the heels of ACE OF PACE. In the middle stages, the saddle on MONEY WINS shifted to the off side. When questioned, Apprentice Y T Cheng (KIMBO BELL) said the Trainer had instructed him to try and make sure the horse relaxed and to ride it midfield or worse. He said he was able to relax the horse, but in the early stages due to the manner in which the race was being run, he got back to last position. He went on to say he had also been instructed to ensure when improving he did so on the outside and gave the horse an interrupted run. He said accordingly near the 600 Metres he steadied from behind MONEY WINS, shifted out and went forward on the extreme outside. Whilst the Stewards accepted the explanations submitted by Apprentice Y T Cheng, he was told his ride had caused some concern on this occasion. NAMJONG SPIRIT was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
