Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the barriers, it was noted that the tongue tie fitted to REFRESHINGLY had come off. This was replaced before the horse was boxed. COURS VITE missed the start slightly, was then severely checked when crowded between COUNTRY DRAGON and METRO TRAVELLER which on leaving the gates shifted in abruptly. DANETOP jumped very awkwardly and threw its head about and just after the start bumped REFRESHINGLY. About the 1200 Metres, METRO TRAVELLER was unbalanced when momentarily awkward between GOOD JOB and WISHES. About the 1100 Metres, LIGHT PRINT and LEGEND OF WEI HAI were momentarily crowded inside SHAXI TREASURE (C Williams) which was shifting towards the fence when barely clear. The crowding was extenuated when KING COBRA (W M Lai) followed SHAXI TREASURE across. In the circumstances, no direct action was taken other than advising both C Williams and W M Lai to exercise more care. Near the 900 Metres, COUNTRY DRAGON shifted in abruptly away from WISHES and inconvenienced FORTUNE SALLIAN. In the early part of the Straight, METRO TRAVELLER raced awkwardly between TRY YOUR BEST and REFRESHINGLY. Also in the early part of the Straight, LEGEND OF WEI HAI was steadied and shifted out to find running. When shifting, LEGEND OF WEI HAI made contact with LIGHT PRINT. For some distance near the 400 Metres, GOOD JOB was awkwardly placed on the heels of FORTUNE SALLIAN. About the 100 Metes, KING COBRA became unbalanced, shifted out towards WISHES. B Marcus (COUNTRY DRAGON) explained today with the rail in the C+3 position, it was decided to ride the horse a little more forward than has been the case in recent starts. He said COUNTRY DRAGON left the gates well, took up a nice position, but throughout the race was inclined to lay in. He did say COUNTRY DRAGON is a horse that likes galloping room, but today because of the manner in which the race was run and the tendency of the horse to lay in, he was not able to give the horse the space it was looking for. He said in the Straight although never held up, he was at times cramped for room. COUNTRY DRAGON was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
