Racing Incident Report

PO ON POWER, which was standing with its head to the off side, missed the start. STAR OF WAH YAN was slowly away. On jumping, UPTOMEEYES and MISSION SEALED bumped. Near the winning post the first time, UPTOMEEYES and MISSION SEALED became unbalanced when rather severely crowded between STAR OF WAH YAN which shifted out slightly and FOREVER GOLD (R Fradd) which shifted in when not clear. The Stewards were of the view this was a borderline case and some doubt existed as to whether R Fradd was fully responsible for the crowding which occurred and therefore no direct action was taken, however, he was severely reprimanded and told he must show a greater regard for his fellow riders. On straightening, OPTIC CHIEF was severely checked when crowded between GRENADIER and WISHES which was taken out by ARABICA which brushed the running rail, changed legs and shifted out abruptly. When OPTIC CHIEF checked, REALLY LUCKY which was following was checked in consequence, shifted out, as a consequence of this STAR OF WAH YAN was checked. Despite the severity of the crowding that occurred, the Stewards were of the view that it was accidental and no action was taken. MELROSE STAR was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
