Racing Incident Report

R Fradd, who had been declared to ride both UPTOMEEYES and PEACEFUL CENTURY, was fined $2,000 for accepting two rides in one race. As at declaration time it was established R Fradd had a firm commitment for both horses, it was decided by ballot that he ride UPTOMEEYES. LION'S SHARE jumped awkwardly with its head up. For some distance near the 1000 Metres, BUENO BUENO was awkward just inside the heels of ZABETTE. Just after the 200 Metres, MILLENNIUM DAWN was steadied and shifted in to avoid ZABETTE and in the run to the winning post was awkwardly placed behind WINMARK and on the inside of ZABETTE. D Whyte (HOLY WINE) said at no stage of the race did the horse handle today's track conditions. The Stewards deferred the declaration of Weighed-In. They were concerned that an incident may have occurred at the start which cast doubt on whether UPTOMEEYES had been given a fair start. After reviewing the available films, however, the Stewards were satisfied as the gates opened UPTOMEEYES shifted back, then when the gates fully opened bounded in the air and lost considerable ground. It was not an incident which would require the Stewards to exercise their powers under Rule 28(ix). Before being allowed to race again, UPTOMEEYES will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial (stalls test). BUENO BUENO was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
