Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, A Marcus (LONGMARK) reported to the Veterinary Surgeon that he was concerned with the action of the horse. The Veterinary Surgeon examined LONGMARK, had the horse trotted up, consulted the Jockey and it was then decided that LONGMARK was suitable to race. Subsequent to the race, LONGMARK was again examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and he was unable to detect any abnormality. FRENCH FRY, which was restless after being boxed, jumped very awkwardly, threw its head about and lost considerable ground. LONGMARK was slowly away. In the early and middle stages, TRIUMPHANT SMILE over-raced and proved difficult to settle. About the 1200 Metres, due mainly to the pace, PLENTY WIN, which was pulling, became unbalanced when being checked off the heels of HAIL WINNER and INTEGRITY was also awkward on the heels of CONNOISSEUR'S BET. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, INTEGRITY hung out badly and CONNOISSEUR'S BET hung out. After the 400 Metres, HAIL WINNER and PEACEFUL CENTURY both endeavoured to improve between CONNOISSEUR'S BET and SUPER FORCE. As they were improving, CONNOISSEUR'S BET shifted in slightly and SUPER FORCE shifted out slightly, this resulted in HAIL WINNER missing the run and being checked quite severely. The occurrence however in the opinion of the Stewards was accidental. Also after the 400 Metres, TRIUMPHANT SMILE shifted in to find running and to avoid HAIL WINNER which was being checked, in doing so caused some inconvenience to LONGMARK and BLESSINGS' PARTNER. Near the line, CONNOISSEUR'S BET was crowded for room between TRIUMPHANT SMILE and INTEGRITY which was shifting in.
