Racing Incident Report

On jumping, FISH KING threw its head about. DASHING WINNER left the gates awkwardly, shifted out and bumped BANK ON IT. Running to the first turn, DASHING WINNER was over-racing, got its head up and became unbalanced when being checked off the heels of GOLDEN PROMISE. As a consequence of this DASHING WINNER shifted out, caused BANK ON IT to be crowded and severely checked. WELL EXPRESS, which was following, was checked in consequence. Just after the 1000 Metres, CALIFORNIA KID got its head on the side and hung in away from GOLDEN PROMISE, this caused FLIRTING STAR and SHINING GEM to be unnecessarily crowded for room. SING SING SING, which was racing to the inside of SHINING GEM, was also crowded. About the 600 Metres, LEGEND OF WEI HAI, which had a tendency to be over-racing, became unbalanced behind MASCOT. SHINING GEM, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, DASHING WINNER got its head up and hung out very badly. R Fradd (GOLDEN PROMISE) said over about the last 200 Metres he was concerned with the action of the horse and as he considered it may have broken down he eased GOLDEN PROMISE down. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN PROMISE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DASHING WINNER was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that FLIRTING STAR was bleeding from both nostrils.
