Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, J Egan (LIGHTMASTER) reported to the Veterinary Surgeon that he thought the horse had worked down short in front. LIGHTMASTER was trotted up, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who was unable to detect any abnormalities. He discussed the situation with J Egan and it was then decided by the Veterinary Surgeon that LIGHTMASTER was suitable to race. LIGHTMASTER missed the start slightly, was then crowded for room between FORTUNE ASSOCIATES and DANCING SURPASS, both of which shifted some ground. NANNING TREASURE left the gates awkwardly, threw its head about and lost a lot of ground When NANNING TREASURE threw its head about on jumping, it struck Apprentice C H Tse in the face. NANNING TREASURE made the turn near the 800 Metres awkwardly, shifted out and was unbalanced on the heels of FLORAL CHEERS. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, SPECTACULAR WIN hung out. Near the 400 Metres, FORTUNE ASSOCIATES was inconvenienced and obliged to race wider when SPECTACULAR WIN which was hanging out was taken out by FLORAL CHEERS which shifted ground to avoid PLATINUM EXPRESS (D Harrison) which shifted across the heels of NOBLE BOY to find running and go forward. No direct action was taken, but D Harrison was told he should exercise far more care when shifting ground. Rounding the turn and in the Straight, CHAMPION BOMB hung out, and in addition to this, in the Straight raced ungenerously with its head up. When questioned, D Whyte (FLORAL CHEERS) said the Trainer had instructed him from the outside gate to ride the horse more quietly than had been the custom in recent runs. He said the Trainer pointed out to him to try and go forward from his draw would have meant he would have to make too much use of FLORAL CHEERS. D Whyte said it was also pointed out to him that FLORAL CHEERS had been ridden towards the front and being a little disappointing. He said accordingly in the early stages he steadied, shifted across and endeavoured to find his way through the field. The explanations submitted by D Whyte were accepted. PLATINUM EXPRESS was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. An inquiry into the reason for SPECTACULAR WIN and PLATINUM EXPRESS being unnecessarily crowded for room about the 1400 Metres was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
