Racing Incident Report
Just as the gates opened, ELEGANCE reared and because of this missed the start. In the early stages, SENTIMENTAL MUSIC proved difficult to settle and was checked several times to avoid the heels of SOUNDS GOOD. In the middle stages, GOLDEN GOBLET lost its position when awkwardly placed between DARWIN and MR BASKETBALL. Rounding the Home Turn, HARMONY PRINCE was held up behind SENTIMENTAL MUSIC and just inside ROUND THE WORLD. On straightening, HARMONY PRINCE was shifted in abruptly to find running and follow QUICK STEP through. In the early part of the Straight, H K Yim (QUICK STEP) momentarily had his whip caught in the end of his rein. In the Straight, SCENIC STAR was inclined to lay in. Near the winning post, FUN MANAGER was steadied when tight between WINNING LUCK and the heels of ELEGANCE. When questioned, B Marcus (GOLDEN GOBLET) explained before the race he had been instructed by the trainer to ride the horse a little more quietly than he had done at its previous start. B Marcus said GOLDEN GOBLET left the gates satisfactorily, he then steadied in accordance with the instructions and took up a position towards the rear. He said in the early and middle stages GOLDEN GOBLET was awkwardly placed and bearing in mind the instructions he had been given he elected to give up his position rather than pushed hard to maintain it and as a consequence of this with 700 Metres to go he was at the rear. He pointed out rounding the Home Turn he wanted to go forward, but was unable to do so as he was held up behind SCENIC STAR and tight on the inside of DE INTEGRO. He said when in the clear and ridden out GOLDEN GOBLET did not find the line as he had hoped. The explanations submitted were accepted.
