Racing Incident Report

Prior to being presented in the Parade Ring, SUPER SPRINT had its off side hind plate refitted. Whilst parading, GALLANT HORSE made contact with a rail. After arriving at the Start, the horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. CAPITAL STAR left the gates very awkwardly with its head up, bounded in the air, then just after the start bumped the hindquarters of SNIPPEDYDOODA. SUPER SPRINT missed the start slightly, was then inconvenienced by CAPITAL STAR which after making contact with SNIPPEDYDOODA shifted out. On jumping, GALLANT HORSE and JOINT PEACE came together. VICTORY WARRIOR was slowly away, then in the early stages proved somewhat difficult to settle and threw its head about. GALLANT HORSE made the first turn awkwardly. About the 700 Metres, VICTORY MASTER, which was pulling, momentarily shifted from behind SNIPPEDYDOODA and bumped JOINT PEACE. Near the 400 Metres, REWARD and SUPER SPRINT came together. In the early part of the Straight, SUPER SPRINT was awkward when close to the heels of VICTORY WARRIOR. Then in the Straight, SUPER SPRINT hung in and proved difficult to ride out. J Egan (REWARD) explained from an outside gate it had been decided that the horse be ridden more quietly tonight. He also did say in recent runs when being ridden in front REWARD was not finding the line as hoped when challenged by other runners. He said tonight from back, in the Straight when making ground he was unable to obtain running between JET JACKSON and VICTORY MASTER after the 200 Metres and as a consequence did not ride REWARD to the line as he normally would. He did say had he obtained running in the Straight, he believed REWARD would have finished in the frame.
