Racing Incident Report
MY CHIEF and ROMANTIC SYMPHONY were slow to begin. For some distance after the 700 Metres, STYLISH raced tight inside the hindquarters of TENACITY. After the 200 Metres, INTERVENE, which was giving ground, was checked when crowded for room by TRUST ME (W C Marwing) which after improving into a narrow run, shifted in after being brushed by SAINTLY PARTNERS which shifted in slightly. In the circumstances, no action was taken, however, W C Marwing was reprimanded and advised that in the opinion of the Stewards he should do more to prevent such incidents occurring. S Dye (SAINTLY PARTNERS) explained it had been his intention to ride the horse with cover, however, after beginning well SAINTLY PARTNERS would not settle, over-raced and as a consequence went too hard when racing outside the leader. He said SAINTLY PARTNERS was a beaten horse on straightening. SAINTLY PARTNERS was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, it was reported that SUPREME CAT was bleeding from both nostrils.
