Racing Incident Report
INCREDIBLE was withdrawn on 20.11.01 on veterinary grounds (lame near hind leg) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter STAR OF TAI PO (G Mossé). Before racing again, INCREDIBLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FAIRY TALE, which was standing with its head turned slightly to the off side, left the gates awkwardly and just after the start was inconvenienced by BOLD VISION which was shifted out to go forward. Turning out of the Straight the first time, TELECOM PRINCE was steadied to avoid WONDERFUL LIFE which shifted across with WORLD STAR. Rounding the turn and in the Straight, DANCING SURPASS hung in. J Egan (HONG KONG STAR) explained the horse commenced to drop out with 600 Metres to go and was also making funny noises with its breathing. He said after this he believed it was in the best interests of HONG KONG STAR to ease the horse down. The Stewards considered the performance of HONG KONG STAR was unacceptable. Before it can race again, it will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. S Dye (WORLD STAR) said the horse in its work of recent times has started to hang, for this reason a rubber bit was fitted tonight. He said along the back WORLD STAR commenced to hang out badly, then approaching and rounding the Home Turn there was an opportunity for him to improve inside ARABICA, but because of the way in which WORLD STAR was travelling he was reluctant to go forward. He said in the Straight WORLD STAR became unbalanced and dipped and immediately he eased the horse up. In all the circumstances, the Stewards decided before WORLD STAR races again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. WORLD STAR was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, it was reported ARABICA had lost its near side hind plate.
