Racing Incident Report
BACCURA was withdrawn on 8.1.02 on veterinary grounds (sore off fore foot) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter MILLENNIUM SUPREME (O Doleuze). After arriving at the Start, OPTIC FRIENDLY was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He had the horse trotted up and after the necessary consultations decided the horse was suitable to race. OPTIC FRIENDLY was slowly away. From a difficult gate, BOBO DUCK was caught wide throughout, was not able to find any cover and weakened over the concluding stages. Near the 1000 Metres, MILLENNIUM SUPREME got its head up when being eased off the heels of INDUBITABLY BLISS which itself was steadied from behind PROJECTSTAR. At about the 1000 Metres, DOLLARS AND SENSE, which was hanging in, bumped INDUBITABLY BLISS. Near the 400 Metres, INDUBITABLY BLISS shifted out from behind PROJECTSTAR, in doing so bumped BOBO DUCK and obliged that horse, which was already travelling wide, to cover even more ground. Near the 200 Metres, CENTURY HORSE became unbalanced and shifted out slightly when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DOLLARS AND SENSE. Then over about the last 150 Metres, CENTURY HORSE was not able to obtain clear running. The horse was not ridden to the line as it normally would be. Over about the last 200 Metres, LOMOND'S FAY did not obtain running. The horse was not properly tested out. When asked about the performance of INDUBITABLY BLISS, F Coetzee said the horse had been working well and it was anticipated by both himself and the stable that it would run well tonight. He said INDUBITABLY BLISS can prove difficult to settle, but in the early stages of tonight's race he was able to switch the horse off, then it did start to pull a little near the 1000 Metres when steadied from behind PROJECTSTAR and just after this when bumped by DOLLARS AND SENSE the horse appeared to resent this and it took him some time to re-settle it. He said from about the 600 Metres he formed the view INDUBITABLY BLISS would not be figuring in the finish of the race, even so the horse in the Straight was very disappointing. INDUBITABLY BLISS, CENTURY HORSE and BOBO DUCK were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
