Racing Incident Report
CHAMP DRAGON left the gates awkwardly with its head up, shifted in abruptly and bumped GREAT STAR which in turn shifted ground and made contact with DONGGUAN EXCELS. INFINITE was slowly away. On jumping, POWERFUL stumbled. From the outside gate, CHIU CHOW HERO was obliged to race wide throughout, was not able to find any cover, then gave a lot of ground in the Straight. Near the 800 Metres, MR BEAUTIFUL became unbalanced and lost its position when awkward between VAJRA and HOWSON. In the middle stages, FLASH HARRY lost its position several times when awkwardly placed behind DONGGUAN EXCELS which was racing greenly and shifting ground. About the 300 Metres, GIDDY KIPPER, which was inclined to be racing greenly, lost its position when awkward just inside the hindquarters of HOWSON, close to the heels of POWERFUL and outside VAJRA. Also about the 300 Metres, VAJRA was steadied to avoid FLASH HARRY which was shifted out abruptly in an endeavour to find running and go forward. About 100 Metres out, E Saint-Martin (FORTUNE LIFE) stopped riding and straightened his mount as it was shifting in towards GREAT STAR. S Dye (DONGGUAN EXCELS) said the horse in the early stages of its preparation had been working quite ordinarily, its first trial on the All Weather Track was also a little disappointing. He said however the horse after that trialed on the grass in which it significantly improved and its work since that trial has also been better. He said DONGGUAN EXCELS is still very green and has much to learn. He went on to say in the early stages he rode along hard in an endeavour to obtain a position inside CHAMP DRAGON, was unable to hold the spot and running towards the 800 Metres steadied to race behind that horse. He said DONGGUAN EXCELS raced ungenerously and about the 800 Metres was reluctant to race tight inside SOLAR EMPIRE and close to the heels of CHAMP DRAGON, lost its position and got back to be racing inside VAJRA. He said after this he again rode along in an endeavour to encourage DONGGUAN EXCELS to stretch out as it should, however, the horse continued to race very greenly. FLASH HARRY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. Subsequent to the event, the Veterinary Surgeon said FLASH HARRY was lame in its off hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, FLASH HARRY will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
