Racing Incident Report
On jumping, COURAGE STAR got its head up and lost a lot of ground. JOINT PEACE (E Legrix) began awkwardly and bumped the outside of its barrier, causing its rider to become unbalanced. In the middle stages, MANY HAPPY RETURNS hung in. At the 500 Metres, ZINEDINE bumped the running rail and was awkward inside the hindquarters of GALLANT HORSE. After the 200 Metres, ZINEDINE, which was making ground, was steadied and shifted out to avoid THE GRAND ROOF. F Coetzee (MEDIC CORPS) said previously the horse has been ridden forward, however, in its most recent race it failed to finish off when ridden in this manner, therefore it was decided tonight from a barrier towards the outside to ride MEDIC CORPS back in the field with cover if possible. He said in the early stages MEDIC CORPS raced a little keenly, however, relaxed at the 800 Metres after he obtained cover behind JOINT PEACE. He said on straightening he shifted his mount out to make it run and it closed the race off strongly. E Legrix said JOINT PEACE travelled keenly in the early stages and then in the middle stages when DANDY BUNNY was racing to its inside, that seemed to fire his horse up further and he was then obliged to race without cover. He said in the Straight JOINT PEACE did not respond. JOINT PEACE and MY FAVOURITE were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, it was reported that MY FAVOURITE was bleeding from both nostrils and was also lame in its off side front leg. Before being allowed to race again, MY FAVOURITE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
