Racing Incident Report

OVATION was withdrawn on 24.5.02 on veterinary grounds (lame near
hind) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter SPARKY (K S Yu). Before being
allowed to race again, OVATION will be required to pass an official veterinary
examination. BEST OF THE BEST was also withdrawn on 24.5.02 on veterinary
grounds (colic). Mr J Moore, trainer of WINNING COUNTER, was fined $5,000
for declaring Apprentice K K Lai as the rider of the horse. Apprentice K K Lai is a
10 lb claiming apprentice and for him to be declared was a breach of Rule 57(11).
WINNING COUNTER left the gates awkwardly. S Dye (ALL THRILLS TOO)
said the horse did not travel in the run as he thought it would. He said about the 600
Metres there was an opportunity for him to be travelling behind FIREBOLT, but
ALL THRILLS TOO was not going well enough to do so and commenced to lay
out. He said after this he could also see a run ahead of him outside PRIME
WITNESS, but ALL THRILLS TOO did not respond as he expected it would and
generally was somewhat disappointing. He went on to say near the winning post
ALL THRILLS TOO jumped a patch on the track. At about this time ALL
THRILLS TOO, which was continuing to lay out, caused some crowding to SOLID
CONTACT. ALL THRILLS TOO was sent for clinical veterinary examination and
testing.
