Racing Incident Report

From a difficult gate, TOP QUALITY was obliged to travel wide, could not find any cover and in the Straight under hard riding weakened. About the 200 Metres, MAXIMUM JOY, which was making ground wide, became momentarily unbalanced and dipped. In the Straight, HONOUR GRADE hung out. Because of this, A Marcus stopped riding and changed his whip hand and approaching the winning post accidentally hit GLASGOW KISS under the jaw with his whip. S Dye (SPEEDY CHAMPION) explained from an outside gate his intention was to ride along and lead. He said SPEEDY CHAMPION was not able to go the speed in the early stages, he pulled the whip in an endeavour to carry out his instructions, was not able to do so and was obliged to race wide. He said in the early stages whilst being ridden with the whip, SPEEDY CHAMPION was inclined to lay in and rounding the turn was awkward between GLASGOW KISS and TOP QUALITY. He was this was of little significance as the horse was well beaten at the time. SPEEDY CHAMPION and WILFUL FLIGHT were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, SPEEDY CHAMPION and WILFUL FLIGHT were examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were detected. HOLY QUEST and MAXIMUM JOY were sent for sampling.
