Racing Incident Report

Before being presented in the Parade Ring, HIDDEN TALENT had an adjustment made to its left front plate. When the gates opened, METRO FLYER bounded in the air and bumped the inside of its starting stall, as a consequence of this lost ground. HIDDEN TALENT jumped very awkwardly. Rounding the turn and in the Straight, WIN FORTUNE hung in. About the 200 Metres, MILLENNIUM LEGEND, which had led, was weakening and was unbalanced when momentarily crowded by METRO FLYER which was shifting ground in an endeavour to find running on the inside of WINNING ASSOCIATES. After the 200 Metres, HIDDEN TALENT was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between CALVADOS and AQUA PRINCE. When questioned, A Marcus (NIGHT HUNTER II) explained the instructions he had been given before the race were quite flexible, he was advised depending on how the race settled down, he could be positioned somewhere towards the front or in the middle. He said from a difficult gate and over 1600 Metres, in the circumstances he felt it was in the best interests of NIGHT HUNTER II to steady the horse in the early stages and take up a position towards the rear. He said the horse has been racing near the front, but has not been closing its races off as expected. Tonight from a rearward position, he said NIGHT HUNTER II did make ground quickly in the early part of the Straight, but then did not finish off as he thought it should and was in the run to the finish somewhat one paced. The explanations submitted by A Marcus were accepted. RENA'S WUNDERBAR and ALL SATISFY were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported that ALL SATISFY had been galloped on and had sustained a laceration to its right hind leg.
