Racing Incident Report

SNIPPEDYDOODA left the gates well, then almost immediately bumped with SUPER SPRINT and shortly after the start continued to bump quite significantly with SUPER SPRINT which was tight just inside the heels of HUANGDI. As a consequence of this, SNIPPEDYDOODA became badly unbalanced, lost its position and got well out of its ground. SPARKY jumped awkwardly and threw its head about. On leaving the gates, ALL DONE and FANTASY came together. Near the 800 Metres, SNIPPEDYDOODA and FANTASY came together. In the Straight, ALL DONE, which had raced hard in front, could not be ridden out and dropped out. After the race, the Veterinary Officer said ALL DONE was making an abnormal breathing noise. He conducted an endoscopic examination and in his opinion the horse is in the early days of becoming a roarer. The performance of the horse was considered by the Stewards to be unacceptable. Before it can race again, it must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. F Coetzee (LIFELINE EXPRESS) explained the intention tonight had been to try and ride the horse in a forward position. He said LIFELINE EXPRESS left the gates well, but at no stage travelled as he thought it should, then in the Straight when put under full pressure, LIFELINE EXPRESS appeared to resent this and finished the race off in a very disappointing way. Before LIFELINE EXPRESS can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. WINNING DRAGON was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, WINNING DRAGON was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. COLOURFUL ERA and SNIPPEDYDOODA were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer examined SNIPPEDYDOODA. He said the horse was displaying signs of "the thumps". Before SNIPPEDYDOODA can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
