Racing Incident Report

TATTENHALL was withdrawn on 19.11.02 on veterinary grounds (left fore suspensory ligament injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter TORI TOP (W M Lai). Before TATTENHALL can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. After being boxed, LUCKY FRIENDS became fractious, resulting in the rider being dislodged. Before LUCKY FRIENDS can race again, it must perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. When the gates opened, TORI TOP bounded in the air. Near the winning post the first time, NEVER SAY NEVER was steadied when momentarily crowded by ME FIRST. Near the 1200 Metres, DIAMOND AND GOLD was crowded for room by REAL WINNER which was racing ungenerously, got its head on the side and shifted in away from SALUZI. In the early part of the Straight, STOIC was awkwardly placed on the heels of SING A SONG. About 100 Metres out, SALUZI shifted in and brushed SING A SONG. W C Marwing (CITI CENTRE) explained the horse of recent times has been bad at the start and lately when having gate practice at the Riverside Gallop has been missing the break. He said tonight CITI CENTRE jumped very slowly and was then reluctant to stretch out. He pushed CITI CENTRE along to try and take up a position, but in the Back Straight CITI CENTRE started to give ground, was obviously unbalanced underneath him and he felt it was in the best interests of the horse to not ride it out. CITI CENTRE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, CITI CENTRE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at this time he was unable to detect any abnormalities, however, he did report that he intends performing an endoscopic examination after the horse has provided a urine sample. The performance of CITI CENTRE was considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and must pass an official veterinary examination. SALUZI, ABLE MARSHALL and SING A SONG were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 21 Nov. 2002) :
Dr Brian Stewart, the Club's Senior Veterinary Officer, has reported he examined CITI CENTRE at the stable of Trainer I W Allan this morning. At the time of the examination no abnormalities were detected.
