Racing Incident Report

MUNDAHISH was withdrawn on 28.2.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SAI KUNG STAR (Apprentice K T Yeung). Before being permitted to race again, MUNDAHISH will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. The left fore plate of FAIRY TALE had to be refitted prior to leaving the Parade Ring. On arrival at the Start, the jockey reported that in his opinion FAIRY TALE's action was stiff in front. FAIRY TALE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, trotted up and after the necessary consultations was passed suitable to race. VIGOROSO reared as the gates opened and lost ground. ABLE EAGLE blundered at the start. MY DELIGHT, which was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of FAIRY TALE and as a result lost ground. BANK ON IT began awkwardly. WINNING SPECIAL was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, TIMBER CITY was immediately taken back in an endeavour to shift in closer to the rail. From a barrier towards the outside, FAIRY TALE was obliged to race wide and without cover throughout. Near the 900 Metres, FOR YOUR EYES ONLY was steadied to avoid the heels of WINWIN COMBINATION which shifted in when just clear. ABLE EAGLE, which was following, was inconvenienced as a consequence. Approaching the 800 Metres, VIGOROSO got its head up and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ABLE EAGLE. Rounding the Home Turn, BANK ON IT was momentarily tightened for room to the inside of VIGOROSO which shifted in slightly. At the entrance to the Home Straight, ABLE EAGLE was slightly inconvenienced when FOR YOUR EYES ONLY shifted to the outside of WINWIN COMBINATION to go forward. Approaching the 200 Metres, BLAZING MOON was steadied and shifted out to obtain clear running. BANK ON IT, which weakened in the Straight, was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of BANK ON IT after the race did not reveal any abnormalities. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY and ABLE EAGLE were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 3 Mar. 2003) :
A veterinary examination of BANK ON IT, which performed poorly, immediately following the race did not show any abnormalities. BANK ON IT was again examined by the Veterinary Surgeon yesterday at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz. At this time it was found to be lame in the left fore leg. He also advised that this leg was quite swollen. Before BANK ON IT can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
