Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, FORM FIT became fractious and broke through underneath the front gates of its stall riderless. FORM FIT was quickly recaptured. Acting on veterinary advice that FORM FIT was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal. Before being permitted to race again, FORM FIT will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. CHEERFUL FORTUNE proved very difficult to load. As a result, the start was delayed. Before being permitted to race again, CHEERFUL FORTUNE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. Shortly after the start, NOBLE VICTORY was steadied when crowded for room between BULLISH KID and VICTORY MASTER which was taken out by HAPPY WINNING. Near the 800 Metres, HAPPY WINNING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHARMING STRIDE. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, CHEERFUL FORTUNE commenced to hang out and then hung out badly making the Home Turn. At the 700 Metres, CHARMING STRIDE was momentarily unbalanced inside the heels of BULLISH KID which was taken in slightly by WIN HUNTER which was endeavouring to shift behind HENNESSY FORTUNE to obtain cover. At the 300 Metres, HAPPY WINNING was bumped on the hindquarters by NOBLE VICTORY which was endeavouring to shift to the outside of WIN HUNTER to obtain clear running. H K Yim (BOWIN) explained after straightening he was following BULLISH KID and in his opinion that horse was travelling well, so he initially elected to remain behind it. He said he came to the outside of BULLISH KID at about the 300 Metres and BOWIN responded well to his riding despite hanging in over the final 200 Metres. H K Yim was advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to shift his horse into clear running and place it under pressure sooner than he did on this occasion. S Dye (HENNESSY FORTUNE) said the horse's work had only been fair, however, it had shown an improvement in the last week. He said he had been instructed to lead, however, the horse did not show sufficient speed to cross runners to his inside, was obliged to race three wide and without cover throughout and then tired badly in the Straight. He said the horse had shown a problem with its breathing during track work. HENNESSY FORTUNE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. HENNESSY FORTUNE was examined by the Veterinary Officer following the race. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. An endoscopic examination was carried out and this showed HENNESSY FORTUNE to be a "roarer". D Whyte (WIN HUNTER) explained from a wide draw it was his intention to go forward, accordingly he rode along in the early stages, was not able to clear runners to his inside, at the 800 Metres bumped with HENNESSY FORTUNE and was obliged to continue racing outside that horse in the middle stages. He said because of being obliged to race four wide and without cover, the horse gave ground in the Straight. WIN HUNTER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, WIN HUNTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. An endoscopic examination was carried out. This showed a moderate amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, WIN HUNTER will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. CHEERFUL FORTUNE and BOWIN were sent for sampling.
