Racing Incident Report
As the last horse was being loaded into the gates, CZAR OF PRUSSIA reared and flipped over, causing D Whyte, its rider, to be dislodged in the gates. CZAR OF PRUSSIA then became caught under the partition between its stall and the stall of MODERN PROSPECT and lashed out on several occasions, making contact with MODERN PROSPECT. MODERN PROSPECT was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said the horse had sustained lacerations to the right fore leg. Acting on the advice from the Veterinary Surgeon that CZAR OF PRUSSIA and MODERN PROSPECT were not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered their withdrawals. Before CZAR OF PRUSSIA will be permitted to race again, it must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. Due to the withdrawals of these horses, the Stewards directed the remaining runners be unloaded and the start of this race be delayed. D Whyte was examined by the duty doctor who said he was fit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements. Shortly after the start, CHARIOT OF WEI HAI was momentarily crowded for room between MASTER MAGIC and MR BASKETBALL which shifted in. From the outside gate, MR BASKETBALL was obliged to race wide and without cover. At the 500 Metres, CHARIOT OF WEI HAI was bumped and carried wider when SUPREME STAR (B Prebble) shifted to the outside of HOLY QUEST to obtain clear running. B Prebble was reprimanded and told whilst the Stewards always like to see horses in clear running and being tested, there are limits to which one can go to obtain clear running. On several occasions after straightening, SUPREME STAR was bumped and carried wider by STOIC (D Dunn) which shifted out. D Dunn was advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount. On pulling up, B Prebble was dislodged. B Prebble was examined by the duty doctor who said he was fit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements. HOLY QUEST and TURBOJET were sent for sampling.
